CP2501/CP2000

IRS computers issue CP2000/CP2501 notices when they think that a tax return omits taxable income (W-2, 1099, Schedule K-1) or overstates deductions (1098)—usually, mortgage interest. A CP2000 notice proposes a balance due; a CP2501 notice only identifies problems, without stating a balance due.

But the notice is only one side of the story—at most! We can help you present your side—and save you money. Think arguing with an IRS computer is hopeless?
